CO-EDUCATION OF PAKISTAN

Co-education means to educate boys and girls together in same classes by same teacher i.e. the joint system of education of boys and girls together is called co-education . If we trace back the pages of history we find that it was first introduced and adopted in Switzerland, but in modern times it has made a rapid progress. In western countries, U.S.A, France and England co-education is very common and popular. In imitation to west, the Asian countries also adopted this system but with the result not very encouraging.
Some people seem in favor of the system in Pakistan and some are totally against it. Both points of view are presented here under.

The supporters of Co-education believe that it creates a sense of competition between boys and girls and result in high standard of education. This system encouraged them to be neat and clean, smart and active. This system develops in both sexes a sort of mutual understanding and mutual respect. The supporters consider it as an advanced method of education equally beneficial for boys and girls. They become really educated and civilized. This system enables them to increase their knowledge and talent, the supporters say that co-education infuse in them the spirit of self confidence and self reliance. These arguments of the supporters of co-education look quite convincing at the first glance. But looking to the serious demerits put for ward by those who appose this modern system of co-education it becomes doubtful whether it suits our society as fairly as it does in the west. The opponents argue that it is destroyer of our moral values and creator of so many problems. They say that it is totally against our religion Islam. If both sexes are allowed to study together, this sort mixed withering will run the whole society. They say that the west has seen worst consequences of this system.
They say that co-education is not fit for our and must be discouraged because this system only encourages modern fashions, western dressing and western style of living. Through this system they will not become national heroes but heroes of films and plays. Therefore it is suggestive that this system must be abolished and it is unwise to introduce co-education system in the colleges and universities in Pakistan.
